International 9900 Features
Australian Manufacture
The new International 9900i Eagle is a first-choice prime mover for the linehaul market, where appearance and style have the same status as performance and quality. Exhaustive Australian engineering applied to classic American design has produced a showpiece for the Australian truck market.
The American 9900i was the basis for a re-engineered Australian International 9900i Eagle, which Iveco is now manufacturing on a production line in Melbourne. Local engineers implemented major changes, including strengthening the cabin floor, modifying the steering, fitting new seats, and re-designing the dashboard.
The cabin structure is welded and riveted aluminium. Air conditioning ducts were re-routed, the location of the steering wheel changed and the headlights, windscreen and braking systems modified. New drivelines were configured for Australian conditions.
The result is impressive; the International 9900i Eagle has the performance to match its appearance. There isn’t a better conventional-cab prime mover in Australia for single-trailer or road-train operations.
Classic exterior
The entire front edge of the 9900i Eagle is made of polished stainless-steel; the classic look complimented by unblemished sheets of polished stainless steel exhaust surrounds and a classic Texas bar.
Eagle comfort
The interior of the International 9900i Eagle pampers its drivers. The fully-adjustable leather-bound steering wheel sits in front of a dashboard that features a burled walnut fascia and a complete set of analogue gauges backed by pale-yellow dials with chrome trims.
The heated ISRI driver’s seat has a wide range of mechanical and pneumatic adjustments, a seat-memory function, and a fully integrated lap-sash safety belt. It provides an excellent view through the curved, one-piece windscreen, large door windows, and heated, power-operated mirrors.
Cruise control, power windows, central locking, map lights above both seats, and, of course, twin cup holders, storage bins in the doors, and a change tray add to the 9900I Eagle experience. The 9900i Eagle has a 51-inch (4160 mm BBC) high-rise sleeper fully lined in the highest standard Eagle trim. The storage areas include a twin-door wardrobe and a dedicated shelf for a small television.
Unrelenting powertrain
The International 9900i Eagle has the powertrain to match its impressive looks. It’s Caterpillar C15 has ratings between 475 hp (354 kW) and 550 hp (410 kW) and torque ratings between 1650 Ib.ft. (2237 Nm) and 1850 Ib.ft. (2508 Nm).
Power is delivered via Eaton’s 18-speed RTLO-20918B overdrive manual transmission or the 18-speed Eaton RTLO20918A-AS2 AutoShift. Highway and heavy-duty suspensions cater for single trailer, B-double and road-train applications.
The highway package has the Meritor RT46-160P rear axle on the Hendrickson HAS 460 suspension. The heavy-duty package combines the Meritor RT50-160P differentials with the Neway AD-246 suspension.
The Hendrickson Primaax PAX 460 and the Meritor AC-6S six-rod suspensions will also be available. Routine servicing is simple via easy-access air filters, windscreen-washer reserve and oil-check and fill locations. The International 9900i Eagle powertrain is complete with everything a driver desires.
